What are the consequences of not getting permission to reuse copyrighted work?

The Copyright Act provides for the copyright owner to recover damages for unauthorized use of the owner's works.  These damages may include the profits resulting from the infringement, or statutory damages ranging from $250 to $150,000 per willful infringement, as well as legal fees. 

In other words, I appreciate that you admire my work.  However, if you can't come up with your own ideas, maybe you should take some classes.  I would be happy to teach you some tricks of the trade, but then you are on your own.  Thanks for your co-operation.
